Ø (The Shell)
"Another book that I found very inspiring was Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World'. This novel depicted the world in quite the opposite way from George Orwell's, where everyone was conditioned at birth to be exactly right. Everyone had a specific purpose in life and didn't need to think for themselves. They were 'created' on a production line rather than born - and all worshiped Henry Ford, the father of mass-production. And when they wanted to escape reality completely, have a holiday, and just generally loose all conscious thought altogether, they took doses of a drug 'Soma' which sent them into a happy trip for a while with no come-down consequences. In the opening chapter there is a tour being held of the human production line which is described so vividly, this description aided me in creating a feel for the robotics that were to aid in the controlling of the mind in the human specimen.

..It's Friday (the 13th!)
After working on a Resolume Avenue VJ set (300+ clips) all night and losing the set in the early hours of the morning due to a feature (AKA bug); you start to appreciate the humor of rock-and-roll VJ life. After all it was technically Friday the 13th, and it still is at this point.
Assuming that my set will magically restore itself again, I am instead writing this review about Alpha Tuning/Alpha Helix's free download album Free System. Just what I need after too many hours of little sleep, Free System is an ambient-IDM album with some elektro sounds. Sound spacey?
"Cranking out 80's sounds in the 00's"
The above is the motto of Alpha Helix's likewise titled new project (found on myspace), which is harder than the Tuning variation but still carries the same arsenal of elektro sounds and beats. My favorite track being Avalon.
Too sum it all up I would describe the new project's sound as Alek Stark meets Aphex, with a dash of V. Snares.

Kaito Komplex - Aftermath Video
Kaito Komplex from Enschede performs an energetic combination of metal and breakcore/hardcore, to produce combustible performances. VJing was done by PiXelSHift, in the style of the evening's performance on a 3 x 2 m LCD screen.

3x Dope - Sage Francis
So f*cking tired of short sighted politics and politicians.
A study by the World Institute for Development Economics Research at United Nations University reports that the richest 1% of adults alone owned 40% of global assets in the year 2000, and that the richest 10% of adults accounted for 85% of the world total. The bottom half of the world adult population owned 1% of global wealth.[11] Moreover, another study found that the richest 2% own more than half of global household assets.[12] The distribution has been changing rapidly in the direction of greater concentration of wealth.
